Stories about creativity

Here the main character makes something: a painting, a cardboard castle, a song, an invention out of kitchen odds and ends. The stories celebrate the making itself, mistakes included, and most end with the child showing their work to someone who matters to them. They suit children in kindergarten through grade 2, and they pair well with an art or maker activity afterward, since children often want to build what the character built. They are a good way to introduce project time in a classroom or fill a rainy afternoon at home.
