These terms are an agreement between you and Menlo Labs ("TaleBuilder", "we") for using talebuilder.com and TaleBuilder in AI assistants. By creating an account or making a book you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
Your account
- You must be 18 or older. Children do not have accounts; you can add them as profiles in your household.
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account, including what AI assistants you connect do with your permission.
- Only upload photos you have the right to use, and only photos of children with the permission of their parent or guardian.
Acorns
- Acorns are credits for making books. Prices are shown before you buy. A book costs 11 acorns and includes 5 picture revisions; further revisions cost acorns as shown in the app.
- New accounts receive 11 free acorns, enough for one book.
- If a book or a revision fails or you cancel it before it finishes, its acorns are returned to your account automatically.
- Acorns have no cash value and cannot be transferred. Purchased acorns do not expire. Within 14 days of a purchase you can ask for a refund of any acorns from it that you have not spent, by emailing support. Free acorns, such as the sign-up bonus, cannot be refunded.
Free previews
You may try TaleBuilder with a free preview: the story written and the cover drawn. We limit the number of free previews and may change or end them at any time.
Books made with AI
Stories and pictures are made by AI from what you enter. They can contain mistakes, odd details or pictures that do not match the text. Read each book before you share it with a child or publish it, and use the editing and revision tools to fix anything you do not like.
Your content
- You keep the rights you have in what you put in. You give us permission to store it, process it with our providers to make your books, and show your books to you, your household and, if you publish them, the public.
- Books you make are yours, and you may use them however you like, including printing, selling or giving them away. To the extent we have any rights in the stories and pictures made for you, we give them to you. Because they are made by AI, some countries may not recognize copyright in them, and pictures can resemble other books, so check before using a book commercially.
- If you publish a book, other people may read it and make their own version of it (a remix). You can unpublish it at any time.
What you may not do
- Make books that sexualize, harm or target children, or that are hateful, violent in a way unsuitable for children, or illegal.
- Upload photos of people without their permission (or their parent's, for a child).
- Try to break, overload or get around the limits of the service, including through automated tools or AI assistants.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.
Connecting AI assistants
You can let an AI assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, make books on your account. It acts only with the permission you give on the TaleBuilder consent screen, and it can spend your acorns when you ask it to finish a book. To remove an assistant's access, disconnect it in the assistant or email support@talebuilder.com.
Ending your account
You can stop using TaleBuilder and ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing support. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
Disclaimers and liability
TaleBuilder is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; we will change the date above and email account holders about significant changes. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Contact: support@talebuilder.com.
