Kindergarten stories

Kindergarten storybooks on TaleBuilder are written for emergent readers, usually 5-6 years old, which is the A-C band on the Fountas and Pinnell guided reading scale. The chart describes this band as: very simple sentences (2-5 words); basic sight words and familiar nouns; pictures directly match text; highly repetitive patterns; and familiar daily experiences only. Each storybook was written by a child with a parent or teacher and then illustrated page by page, so the text stays at a length a kindergarten reader can manage while the pictures carry the rest. Read them together at bedtime, let a confident reader try one alone, or use them in a classroom as short, fresh texts at the right level. Every story is free to read online, and any of them can be remixed into a new version with your own child as the main character.
