Stories about friendship

These storybooks are about making a friend, keeping one, and working out what to do when a friendship wobbles. Each was written by a child with a parent or teacher, so the situations are the ones children actually run into: a new kid at school, two friends who want different games, a promise that was hard to keep. They suit readers from kindergarten through about grade 3, and the shorter ones make good read-alouds for younger siblings. In a classroom they open a conversation about what a good friend does, and the last page usually gives you a natural place to ask what your child would have done. Every story is free to read online, and each one can be remixed into a new version with your own child as the main character.
