Stories about resilience

A child in each of these stories has something go wrong, feels it fully, and then finds a way forward: a lost race, a move to a new town, a broken arm at the start of summer, a best friend who moves away. The stories do not skip the hard part, which is what makes them useful. Children see a character be sad or angry and then see what helped. The collection suits readers from about grade 1 through grade 3 and any child working through a setback of their own. It fits social-emotional learning at school, and at home it says what a child sometimes needs to hear: a bad day is not the whole story. All are free to read online and can be remixed.
