Stories about courage and bravery
Being brave in these stories rarely means fighting a dragon. It means going down the big slide, raising a hand in class, sleeping with the light off, or telling a friend the truth. The children who wrote them picked fears they know well, which is why the stories land with other children. This collection is a good fit for readers in kindergarten through grade 2, and for any child who is facing a first: a first day, a first swim lesson, a first night away from home. Reading about a character who was scared and did it anyway gives a child language for their own nerves. Each story is free to read online, and can be remixed so the brave child on the page has your child’s name.
